Birds and their song have captivated poets and composers throughout history, inspiring music ranging from serene pastoral reflections to powerful allegories of the human condition. Join Octo Voces on a musical journey through three millennia of avian-inspired texts and hear how birds give voice to beauty and longing, sorrow and joy. The programme will include compositions by old favourites such as Byrd, Weelkes and Stanford, together with the bright new colours of today’s composers including Bingham, Marsh and Panufnik, culminating in the Guernsey première of Lucy Walker’s brand-new suite of partsongs, Bird Raptures.

Octo Voces is an eight-part a cappella group with a diverse repertoire. Their performances showcase rich harmonies and textures in contemporary music written for eight voices. 

The group sings a mix of ecclesiastical, gospel, jazz, and popular music, requiring great skill from its members. They have performed arrangements from The King’s Singers, The Swingle Singers, Voces8, as well as works by local composers.
