Joseph Edwards is a professional consort singer and workshop leader who has performed programmes of Gregorian chant in cathedrals across the world. He regularly performs with the internationally renowned vocal ensemble, Tenebrae, as well as other professional groups including Stile Antico, Fretwork, Academy of Ancient Music, and Sansara. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music where he graduated with distinction and was awarded the highest graduate diploma (DipRAM) for his final recital. Joseph’s performance highlights include his debut recital at Wigmore Hall in 2016, concerts at The Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall and Philharmonie de Paris, Radio 3 In Tune broadcasts with Sansara and Tenebrae, “Orpheo and Euridice” with Classical Opera, a European premier of a Brazilian radio opera, “A Noiva do Condutor”, and film soundtrack recordings at Abbey Road Studios.

As an educator, he has led early music workshops for numerous music festivals in the UK, and he enjoys working with singers from a broad range of backgrounds and interests. He has extensive experience in teaching and performing Gregorian Chant from his time as a Lay Clerk of St George’s Cathedral, Southwark. He also sings with London cathedral choirs including Westminster Cathedral and The Brompton Oratory. He directs a Gregorian Chant group locally, and is currently working closely with Blanchelande College to integrate more chant into the school liturgy.
